FINALE:: MY HOUSE!!!!

IN ALL ITS GLORYY

Interior. oh yessssssss. 100% recycled materials. i made that table and re-apolstered that couch thing

Lets get a better look at that table - wow landon you are such an artistic carpenter!

More interior. I sleep on an air mattress that I fold up during the day. I painted it so it blends in. You probably didn’t even notice it. FLAMMEENNGGOO!

The wardrobe was a donation by Seu Brum, a upstanding member of the Oficina de Jo community. complete with Detroit sticker

my back yard, still dont know what to do with it... hot tub? suggestions?

THE BEST PART OF THE WHOLE THING: the view a few feet from my porch :)

The cabana has left me broke, so now its back to the grind.

Ok so working in Rio isn’t so bad, but theres just nothing to do in the off time.

This was a dream of mine that was fulfilling to complete. For anyone who is interested in doing something similar, please know that the primary motivation for this was to live with my friends from Vidigal. I think when possible, living situations should focus on that.

I would like to extend a thank you to everyone and everything who has helped me arrive where I am today. This is one of many amazing experiences that I have been blessed to have, and I could not have done any of it without all of you. Peace and love to all.

ITS GOOD TO DO THINGS THAT ARE GOOD FOR THE SOUL

OK you got to the end here is your prize: I wanted to take a video to demonstrate what construction was like. I ended up recording the only time that I fell during construction

If anyone is interested in or thinking about doing something similar, I'm happy to help! Please keep in mind that the point for me isn't to live in a favela. The point is to live with people who I like in a place where I like to be. I would recommend the same kind of thinking for anyone considering a similar adventure.

I hope you enjoyed this, I certainly did. Please comment on this site or send comments, quibbles and inquiries to forlandonsake@gmail.com. I am interested to know if everyone thinks I’m crazy. Shoutout to my Granny, friends and family, and the Lassner family for making my Brazilian dreams possible and to my biggest supporter, mom!

if nothing else, I hope this blog encourages the belief that your wildest dreams are perfectly possible.

I haven't been living in vidigal very long, but nonetheless the community life is noticeable and wonderful. there are obviously some uncomfortable differences, but i feel that i am surrounded by love all the time and i am really enjoying it.

post - script bonus:

Carnaval is indubitably the most outrageous thing i have ever been a part"y" of. Let me explain -

The Landatar

Party Landatar with companions Victozodiac Warrior and Matt the not-so-card Shark

Landatar casting an earth-shattering spell on the final night of carnaval ^_^

PEACE AND LOVE EVERY DAY!
